We envision a place on the river for everyone. A place where residents can walk the dog, ride a bike or just walk, take the kids swimming on a warm summer day, launch kayaks, canoes, lazers, or dinghys. A place where our visitors can relax in the shade of a giant oak tree, go fishing off the end of a dock, relax on a bench, play a game of checkers. A place where marina users can stretch their legs and paddlers touring the islands can come to land and spruce up for an evening at one of our restaurants. A place, in winter, where people can go sledding or skating.
Here are some parts of our plan: secure and shoreline with fish-friendly boulders attractive lighting bike racks, benches, picnic tables, chess table limestone retaining wall between beach & road has been completed water system for irrigation manage the beach area marking and safety equipment for the beach accessible brick or limestone walkways from the municipal marina along the waterfront, beach and playground a fishing dock with access for handicapped use small craft dock for launching kayaks, canoes etc. with short-term parking for loading shelter for launch preparation/arrivals has been built for use as a shelter for all users in case of rain (This was a joint project with the Gananoque Lions Club along with funding from the Eastern Ontario Development Program). trees, shrubs, hedging: a full careful landscaping, some of which has been completed. winter skating on the river playground equipment for young children Traffic management that would allow tobogganing on Bay Street hill
